Wines from last Friday April 3rd   Sandhill 2018 Pinot Gris FLAVOUR PROFILE § Clear and bright with a straw yellow hue and fresh, clean aromas of white peach, honeydew melon, pear and a touch of floral. § This medium-bodied Pinot Gris has a slightly rich mouth-feel and the perfect splash of acidity on the finish to refresh. § Wonderful flavours of ripe orchard fruits fill the mouth. § Refreshing notes of green apple, citrus, pear and ginger spice linger on the finish. § Serve lightly chilled at 14 to 15˚C (to enhance the rich mouth-feel). Pairs well with leek and mushroom quiche; sautéed scallops; crab cakes with mayo dipping sauce; coconut shrimp; poached salmon; pork tenderloin with pine-nut mushroom stuffing; chicken in a mushroom cream sauce; roast chicken or turkey; butternut squash soup with toasted almonds; potato fish cakes; Beemster Graskaas Gouda; roasted garlic hummus with pita chips. GROWING CONDITIONS The mid and southern Okanagan, and Similkameen Valleys, experienced an early start to the growing season with warm, dry conditions which persisted until August. The month of August and early September experienced smoke covered valleys from local wild fires which slowed the ripening process, allowing for an extended period for ripening and development of flavours. During late September conditions improved providing an excellent harvest period for early ripening varietals. An early October frost caused some issues with late ripening varietals, but overall the 2018 vintage saw a near normal to good growing season.

Ancient Hill Winery Rose 2016 Rose $16.65
Varietal: Zweigelt 40%, Baco Noir 20%, Gewurztraminer 40% Cases produced: 700 Winemaker’s tasting notes: Vibrant color with spicy, strawberry, cranberry, citrus and floral aromas. Soft and refreshing in the mouth with a red cherry finish. http://ancienthillwinery.com/our-wines

Gray Monk Estate Winery MERLOT Grapes from the southern Okanagan Valley were used for the Merlot. The juice underwent malolactic fermentation for 2-3 weeks and was then aged in oak barrels for 8 months. Before bottling the wine went through fining and minimal filtration to enhance varietal characteristics. This Merlot is deep garnet in colour with an aromatic bouquet of black cherry, roasted coffee bean, sweet oak and dark chocolate. This medium-bodied wine has soft drying tannins, and flavours of ripe cherry and plum fruit accented by notes of cocoa and spice. Lovely notes of black tea, red berry, cocoa and spicy oak linger on the finish. http://www.graymonk.com/our-wines/est...
The View Winery Pinotage Reserve Originating in South Africa, Pinotage is a cross between the silky Pinot Noir and the aromatic Cinsaut grape. Our 2015 Pinotage Reserve has an elegant nose with vibrant aromas of dark cherry and spice. Juicy dark berry flavours are balanced by a lovely acidity and seamless tannins.
