Vancouver International Wine Festival #VIWF; Great Wines of Italy for Tasting   

February 26, 2016- Vancouver BC, Point Roberts WA-, a digital global news source covering leading sectors including wine stocks reports on the Vancouver International Wine Festival The 2016 festival runs February 20-28, 2016 and features the International Festival Tasting Room at the Vancouver Convention Centre, where over 700 wines are available for tasting.

The Tasting Room was open on Thursday and will run through Friday, Saturday evening and Saturday afternoon

The theme this year is Italia with some of the great winemakers of Italy on hand to talk about the art of making fine wines worthy of collecting. had the opportunity to talk to and interview several of the Italian wineries showcasing their best.  Giorgio Conterno of the Paolo Conterno Winery ( ) shared the rich history of his winery and how his family has a lasting passion and tradition in crafting some of the well- known Italian wines including award winning Barolos.

James Suckling¸ internationally acclaimed wine critic and journalist, describes the Barolo Ginestra as “a powerful and rich red” awarding to it 93 points.

Located in the Piedmont North West Italy, the winery was started in 1886, when Paolo Conterno founded the Casa della Ginestra, dedicated to the production of Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto wines.

If you have never attended the Vancouver International Wine Festival, add it to your to-do list for next year. It’s a must for any wine lover.

Canada’s premier wine show will mark its 38th edition of pairing wine, food and the performing arts from February 20 to 28, 2016. The festival features Italy as the theme country. The festival will showcase 156 wineries from 14 countries (including 60 wineries from Italy) pouring 1,450+ wines at 55 events to a projected 25,000 admissions. The Bacchanalia Gala Dinner + Auction open the festival on Saturday, February 20 at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. The festival is produced by the Vancouver International Wine Festival Society, which has three mandates: provide an informative, educational and entertaining wine experience for public and trade; be a premier marketing opportunity for the wine industry and festival partners; and raise funds for the Bard on the Beach Theatre Society. Since inception in 1979, the festival has raised $8.5 million for the performing arts. Major sponsors are The Vancouver Sun, the official newspaper, and Delta Air Lines, the official airline. Major industry partners are the BC Liquor Distribution Branch and the Import Vintners & Spirits Association. The festival is made possible through the gracious support of our participating countries’ consulates and embassies.
